Is it a lemon?

Have you ever bought something and no matter what you
try, something is always breaking down or falling off?

If this is true, you just might have purchased a
‘lemon’. When it comes to purchasing cars care should
be taken because lemons exist in this area too.

But what constitutes a lemon? Simple defects don’t
always add up this description. For example, if paint
peeling occurs, or a lock needs a good jiggle to get
it to work then all you have is minor faults.

Perhaps the best way to describe a lemon is to say
that if the car has faults that endanger the occupants
or others then for sure it can be classed as a lemon.

Imagine a door flying open whilst the car is in motion
or gasoline dripping from below the fuel tank. Either
of these would qualify the vehicle for this dubious
title.

If any faults appear on your vehicle within the
warranty period – or within a reasonable time from
purchase if it is a used vehicle – you must give the
manufacturer or previous owner an opportunity to
correct the fault.

Should the same fault keep appearing time after time
then of course this will also qualify it for the lemon
award and you will have grounds to pursue legal action
for compensation.

Help is at hand in most states of America.
Unfortunately, there is no standardized test that can
be applied since most states have different rules
connected to this phenomenon.

Auto Sound Systems Should be Superior Quality

I for one can’t imagine entering into my daily commute without the sound assistance of a good auto sound system.

Music in the morning is as necessary for me as oxygen and caffeine. If I live without any of those above my day is already up and running with wrong foot first. Music is a very important part of any given day for someone like me. My wake up call in the morning comes in the form of my favorite radio station and from that point on I have music as my companion for the vast majority of my morning routine. That is of course with the exception of children and husband and some of their more insistent demands for food, money, and last minute homework crisis. I will gladly take my music and tea most mornings and skip the drama.

The point of all this is that I am not alone in my morning preference. If I were there wouldn’t be so many variations of the music driven alarm clock. Today you can even have CD player alarm clocks in order to get you up and running to your favorite tunes. Of course this brings me to an important point. A good auto sound system will sound much better than your morning music wake up call. Most alarm clocks will not have the best quality of sound. They are designed for minimal space, minimal intrusion, and to be annoying enough that you will get up (eventually) and turn them off. If the music is good and the quality even better, most of us, can manage to incorporate the music into our dreams and go right back to sleep.

While you do not want your auto sound system to necessarily put you to sleep you do want it to be enjoyable to listen to. You are after all most likely shelling out a good portion of a month’s salary in order to pay for it. Some may say this is extravagant but many people spend more time each week in their cars than they do in front of their televisions and are much more inclined to spend a great deal more on big screen or LCD televisions for their homes. I like being surrounded by nice things and music is one of those things. A great auto sound system is one way that I can bring music into my life day in and day out. I am quite certain that there are others out there just like me. Just like the alarm clock radios, there are many wonderful auto sound systems on the market today competing with one another for a slice of the music lover’s pie. That would not be the case if there were only a select few of us who enjoyed great music.

The trick is always going to be finding the sound you like at a price that is just as delightful as the sound they provide. A good auto sound system is not an impulse buy. This is something you consider carefully, shop around, and compare prices on before you make the decision to purchase. Also consider things such as free installation and how they will affect the overall price when the time comes. It could very well be that the same sound system will cost a different amount at several different stores, if one of those stores offers free installation (depending on the cost of installation) it may be a much better deal even if the cost of the system is slightly greater than those at the other competing stores.

There are many things to consider when purchasing an auto sound system for your vehicle. The most important of those things is how well you like the system you are purchasing. This is your money after all and you should spend on the systems that sounds best and offers the most features that you desire.

Fuel Tanks

In order for a gas engine to operate properly in must be able to access fuel. This comes from the fuel tank that is located underneath the vehicle. The size of the fuel tank will vary depending on the type of vehicle it is. Semi trucks can hold hundreds of gallons of fuel while a small sized vehicle can’t hold more than about 30 gallons. There is a sensor in the fuel tank that allows you to read how much of it is left over through your gas gauge. It is important to keep an eye on this so you don’t run out of gas.

It isn’t just these types of vehicles that need fuel tanks though. Airplanes and even rocket ships rely on them as well. It is important to only put the right type of fuel into the tank though. Some take diesel fuel while others either take regular or unleaded fuel. It is important to keep the cap on the entrance to the fuel tank too except when you are filling it up. Failure to do so can result in debris getting into your fuel tank and that can result in severe damage to your vehicle.

Many people have changed the gas cap to their fuel tank to one that is locked with a key. This is to keep people from being able to siphon gas or to put something into the gas tank to sabotage them. Should your vehicle be involved in an accident you may have to replace the fuel tank. It can be jarred loose too if you hit a dip too hard or go over a curb and your fuel tank is hit.

Due to the risk of the fuel inside of the tank becoming flammable, manufacturers have to take special care when they make them. They need to be very durable so that they have less of a risk of creating a fire or a large explosion. Some types of vehicles have been recalled in the past due to faulty fuel tanks that make them unsafe to drive. It is important to pay attention to such recalls for vehicle so you can keep yourself and your family safe.

The residual value of leasing

If you are in the market to lease a vehicle, you will hear the term
“residual value” recur like a leitmotif. A residual value does not only
affect your monthly payments, but is equally used by leasing companies
to determine any penalties should you break your lease early and how
much to pay if you decided to buy the vehicle at the end of your lease.

Let us first start by looking at the meaning of residual value. The
term “residual value”, refers to the value of something after it has
been used for some time. In leasing lingo, it refers to the
depreciation of the vehicle’s value over the life of its lease.
So how does it exactly affect your monthly payments? When you lease a
car, you pay for the car’s value that you use over the lease length.
Suppose you leased an $18,000 car for 2 years: the leasing company
needs to estimate the value of this car in two years time in order to know
how much of the car you will be using during your lease term. That’s where
the “residual value” comes into the equation. If the residual value is
estimated to be $13,000 at the end of your lease, then your monthly
payments will be calculated on the $5,000 you will use over 24 months,
giving an average monthly payment of $208.3 (plus interest, tax and fees).
How about if the car is expected to lose half its value over the same
period? In this scenario, you will be using $9,000 over the same period,
leaving you with a higher monthly payment of $375 (plus interest, tax and
fees).
As you can see, residual values are a key factor in determining how much
money to pay on your lease and the higher the residual value, the lower
your monthly fees. This works in reverse if you build a bond with your car
and decide to purchase it at the end of your lease. If we stick with the
same example above, the lower monthly payments in the second scenario come
at the cost of paying substantially more to buy your car at the end of the
lease.

So, since the residual value is so important, how do I know which one is
best for me? Well, it all depends whether you want to purchase the car at
the end of your lease. If you don’t want to make a large down payment and
you want low monthly payments, then a car that holds with a higher residual
value is a good deal. If you are thinking of purchasing the car at
lease-end, then you need to balance low-monthly payments with a moderate
residual value.

Why You Should Choose Diesel

The major distinction between diesel and gas lies in
the type of ignition. While gas engines operate on
spark ignition, diesel engines employ compression
ignition for igniting the fuel. With compression, the
air is drawn into the engine and subjected to high
compression that heats it up. The result is a very
high temperature in the engine, much high than that
of gas engines.

In diesel engines, air and fuel are both infused into
the engine at different stages, as opposed to gas
where a mixture of air and gas are introduced. The
fuel is injected into the diesel using an injector
where in a gas engine, a carburetor is used for this
very purpose.

With gas engines, fuel and air are sent into the
engine at the same time, then compressed. The air
and fuel mixture will limit fuel compression, and
thereby hence the overall efficiency. Diesel engines
only compress air, and the resulting ratio can be
much higher.

Advantages
Diesel engines are much more efficient and
preferable as compared to gas engines due to the
following reasons:
1. Diesel engines have overcome the several
disadvantages of earlier models that featured higher
noise and maintenance costs. Now, they are quiet
and require less regular maintenance when compared
with gas engines of a similar size.
2. Diesel engines are more rugged and reliable.
3. There is no sparking at all as the fuel
ignites. The absence of spark plubs or spark
wires also helps to lower maintenance cost.
4. The fuel cost produced is 30 – 50 percent
lower than gas engine fuel prices.
5. Gas burns hotter than diesel, and
therefore they have a shorter life span when they
are compared with diesel engines.

Benefits Of Renting A Car

The benefits of renting a car surpass the need for
buying one. People are not quite clear about the
concepts related to renting.

Typically, owning a car and maintaining it is far more
difficult and expensive than renting a car since most
of the rented cars are insured.

There is no need to wait for repairs. Rented cars are
mostly maintained in the best condition possible and
therefore, one can take long drives and enjoy
comparatively longer drives without the fear of any
kind of breakdown.

Space management is another issue that can be
addressed by renting cars, as the ones that are owned
might not offer more space.

There are certain things that must be kept in mind
while renting a car. The person renting the car needs
to be above 18 years of age. A driving license that is
in use for at least a year will also be required. One
should have a valid credit/debit card, so that there
is no problem while making payments.

One should always study the vehicle’s running
performance before renting cars. Renting cars from
authorized agencies is always a better option. Most of
the agencies require you to show your driver’s license
and credit card before renting a car.

The car should be checked for any damage, leaks or
other types of problems. Getting value for your money
is a major aspect, therefore, check various car
renting agencies and make a choice.

Porsche Panamera

In 2009 is set to be launched a four-door, four-seat coupe,
called Porsche Panamera. The car, powered by a modified
version of the 4.5 L V8 found in the Cayenne, equipped with
the FSI system will be front engined and rear wheel drive.
Although it is extremely unlikely, rumors is that an option
for the Panamera will be the V10 engine from Porsche’s
limited-run Carrera GT supercar.

Porsche Panamera will be produced in the new plant at Leipzig
alongside the Cayenne. It is the first V8-engined sports car built
by Porsche since 1995, when the 928 was discontinued and
some consider it a suitable successor to the two-doored 928.
The company built the new model as a direct competitor to the
Mercedes-Benz CLS 55 AMG and Maserati Quattroporte and
(to a lesser degree) a less expensive alternative to expensive
vehicles such the, Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, Bentley Continental GT
and Aston Martin Rapide.

Like Porsche Carrera`s name, the Panamera`s derives from the
Carrera Panamerican race. Before it, there were other four-door
sedans prototypes, such as the 1991 Porsche 989 prototype
or the even earlier 4 door prototype based on the 911, but they
never went into production.

Are Hybrid Cars Right for You — The Advantages of Owning One

Many people today now think that it is impractical to
own a car. With the rising gasoline prices coupled
with a poorly performing economy, you too would think
twice before purchasing a car. You’d rather get a bike
or just use the public transportation system to get
around the city. However, have you ever considered
that there are cars today that are very fuel
efficient? These cars are called hybrid cars.

So, just what exactly is a hybrid car?

First and foremost, a hybrid car is just like your
ordinary car. However, instead of having only one
motor to propel the car, it will have two motors. One
is a gasoline motor that you will normally find in all
conventional cars, and the other is an electric motor.

By combining these two motors, this particular car
will have better gas mileage. It will also have
batteries installed that power the electric motor. In
the past, these batteries were charged by plugging it
in your conventional home electric outlet. However,
later models were developed where more advanced
batteries were installed and is charged using the
car’s wasted energy. The energy used is from the
gasoline engine and also the energy that would
normally be lost during braking or decelerating.

Depending on certain factors, the car will use either
the gasoline or the electric engine. Factors include
the speed the car is currently running. Sometimes, the
car will even use both systems to provide extra boost
to the car without using too much extra fuel.

The result would be better gas mileage and less carbon
dioxide emissions compared to conventional cars that
is only powered by a conventional gasoline engine. For
example, the 2006 Honda Civic gets about 50 miles to
the gallon on the highway. When compared to the 2003
Honda Civic model, the 2006 model is 14 miles to the
gallon better. So, in every 12,000 miles, you will be
able to save 69 gallons of gasoline as well as 258
pounds of carbon dioxide in a year.

If you are the type of person who is concerned about
the environment and you also want to save money on
gasoline, then hybrid cars is for you. With this car,
you will be able to enjoy better gas mileage, which
will allow you to save a lot of money on gasoline.
Also, you will be doing the environment a favor as you
will have a car that emits lower levels of carbon
dioxide which contributes to global warming.

However, you have to keep in mind that hybrid cars
today can cost about 5 thousand dollars more than a
conventional car of the same type or weight class.

Although this may seem heavy for some people, you have
to remember that in the long run, getting a hybrid
vehicle can be a lot cheaper.

Not only will you enjoy better gas mileage, but you
will also see that the government is providing huge
tax breaks for people who own hybrid cars.

Many people fear that hybrid cars are very costly to
maintain or repair. Also, they fear that the insurance
cost will be a lot higher than in conventional cars.
However, research has shown that the maintenance cost
for hybrid vehicles are no higher than conventional
cars. And, because hybrid car owners are less likely
to be involved in vehicular accidents, insurance
companies today are now offering discounts to owners
of hybrid cars.

So, if you are ever on the market for a car, you might
want to consider hybrid cars. With this, you will not
only enjoy huge savings on gasoline and tax breaks,
but you will also contribute a lot on the environment.
Remember these things and you will be able to know if
hybrid cars are definitely for you.

Auto Sound Systems One Piece at a Time

Those who are in the market for auto sound systems are probably well aware of the many decisions that need to be made throughout the process. Gone are the days when you went in, pointed to a box and walked out with all the pieces, parts, and components you would ever need for a really kickin’ sound. The truth of the matter is that there are many pieces and parts that work together in order to create the ultimate sound system and everyone seems to have different requirements, styles, tastes, and budgets to work with.

Because of this, many manufacturers of auto sound systems have wised up to the fact that some people will buy the components they need to create the sound system of their dreams piece by piece as budgets allow. This is actually a very intelligent way for customers on a budget to buy the sound system they are hoping to some day have. As a result you will find that speakers, amplifiers, sub woofers, and the actual stereo are often sold separately and at very reasonable prices.

Most of us hate living within limited budgets but understand that often in life it is a necessary evil. Living on a budget is not such a terrible thing really. If we had everything we wanted, what on earth would there be to look forward to? At least that is what I keep telling myself. I, however, seem to be the queen of budget living and bargain hunting. I love little more in life than finding a great deal on an item I’ve had my eye on for quite a while and hate little more than finding it cheaper once I’ve purchased it. As such, I tend to invest a great deal of time researching any major purchase before taking the plunge. A good auto sound system by this I mean good quality, minimal features is going to run (total package and installation) at least $1,000 with many costing a good deal more than that.

That doesn’t mean you need to have a thousand bucks lying around the house in order to begin building your auto sound system. You can buy a decent set of speakers for around $200-$260 if you desire. You can find sets at lower prices, but this is the price for a fairly decent set of speakers that should serve you well. Keep in mind that you could very easily spend a lot more than this on speakers if you aren’t careful. Living on a budget means you have to make some sacrifices along the way in order to have the things you want in life. Buy the speakers and have them installed (if you can do it or your know someone who can, this will save a lot of time and money).

Once you have the first component, whichever one that may be (that choice is entirely up to you and largely dependent on your personal tastes and which need replacing worse in the vehicle you own) you can begin saving towards the next. You should also consider asking friends and family (who would like to know what to get you for the holidays) to help you reach your smaller goals along the way. Most people are glad to help with specific items if they know what those items are. The point is that this isn’t an all or nothing proposition.

Take small steps towards your prize and you will find that you are constantly getting one step closer.
