Tuning Your Car For Maximum Performance

Tune up your car for maximum performance. There are numerous products available in the market which can be used for tuning of your car. After market products are cheap and used in different set of cars. After market products is used in specific cars which have high engine capacity. Use of these products in a low engine power can destroy the engine completely while operation.

Tuning of car can be done for two reasons. One is to increase the speed and the other is its reliability or durability. Use of some performance products can increase the engine life of your car. They are no used for high speeds but also for a smooth functioning of the machine. Internet is the preferred place where you can order these products at an affordable cost. By purchasing online you can save lot of money and time. Free home delivery will be dispatched on every purchase.

Use of air filters can be effective if you need some additional power. An air filter regulates air inside the engine which is required for functioning. There are two ways where you need to select one while installing such devices. You need to take extreme care if it is a cheap product or pay costly and install the best one with maintenance free products. Air intake system is one more device which can set the wheels on fire. It directly increases the air flow of the car when the accelerator pedal is pressed. Gas combustion takes place on a larger scale which results in rapid acceleration. Crankshaft goes spinning in a different manner which is more than the stock settings.

Use of turbo charger can be done if you need more speed. This will eventually decrease the mileage but give a very good top end. You can feel the thrust when the car accelerates to 6000 RPM. Hearing a V8 roar at high speeds is fun. The power generated by a turbo charger is superb. There are variations like for new cars use of super chargers are required and for old cars use of turbo chargers is required. There is not much difference in both the units as the turbine make is different.

Accessories like these can be installed in your car which can give you outstanding results. Change in the exhaust will give you added power to zoom up the roads. Carbon fiber exhaust systems are introduced which are light weighted and increase the horse power.

Tuning a RC Nitro Engine For Optimal Power – A Guide For Beginners

When I first started racing Gas Powered RC cars, I used to struggle to get the engine into tune, while I was able to get the engine to start on a dime and it used to run fine for almost an entire fuel tank, it always seemed to over-heat near the end of the run. After many hours out on the track I can now finally say that I’ve got it down, tuning for me is now a 5 minute operation before I take my RC car out, and once it’s dialed in I only need to adjust one needle a fraction of a turn to get it back to it’s optimal settings.

I assume that your understand the basics of a RC Nitro Engine and how it works, if not please see my other articles which you can find on my website, see the resource box for details.

The Idle Screw I always start with the idle screw, I adjust it so that the car will idle high when I’m first dialing in the engine. Once I get the engine up to temperature and with a tube that can keep it running without stalling I slowly adjust the idle down to the point where it’s about to stall, then I turn it back about 1/4 to 1/2 turn depending on the temperature. If your car stalls often it can be worth while increasing the idle to prevent this, it’s only a temporary fix while you sort out the other tuning issue, but it helps keep frustration levels down.

Low Speed Needle. One of the great debates is which needle to adjust first, if your carburetor only has one needle adjustment screw then it’s not a problem, but if like most glow engines you have two you need to decide which to tune first. I always start with the low speed needle, this is because when you adjust the low speed needle you change the high speed needle. Once the low speed needle is dialed in you shouldn’t have to adjust it again. Make sure you keep it slightly on the rich side, when you RC Car idles the combustion chamber should start to fill up with fuel, this helps keep it cool. After a while the engine will stall, by measuring this you can tell if it should be richer or leaner. A good time is about 30 – 60 seconds before it stalls. The RC Car should pull off quickly from a standing start and should not bog down or flame out when you apply full throttle.

High Speed Needle. Once you have your low speed adjustment needle dialed in it’s time to start getting the power out of the RC engine. This is done with the high speed needle, which adjusts the air to fuel mixture of the engine while it as high RPM (about 40% and up). Keep an eye on the trail of smoke as this is your first clue about the tune. You want to have a lot of smoke coming out of the engine at all RPM, if at some point there is little or no smoke then you are running too lean.

Hints, Tips and Tricks

  • Turn the needle clockwise to lean out and counter-clockwise to richen the mixture.
  • A lot of smoke means you tune is rich.
  • The sound can tell you about your tune.
  • Reading your glow plug after a run will tell you a lot about your tune.
  • Make sure to run your engine on the rich side, this will extend it’s life.
  • A lean engine will always put out more power, but it will shorten the life of your engine.
  • Temperature, air pressure and humidity play if big part in the tune, different days will need different settings.

The Wonderful World of ECU Tuning and Boost Display

In the olden days, car tuning mostly consisted of adjusting carburetors and ignition to keep the engine running optimally. You also had to keep an eye on the spark plugs and various engine fluids, and make sure to keep things lubricated. More serious tuning included performance car parts such as headers, exhausts or perhaps a bigger carburetor or engine. These still play a role today, but almost everything else has changed. Computers control our cars now, and they have become the primary key to performance. Automotive computers, often called Electronic Control Units or ECUs, manage every aspect of a vehicles running and performance, from determining when exactly spark plugs should fire, to providing the data for the boost display of a turbo motor, all the way to luxury car tuning amenities such as turning lights on or off and adjusting rear view mirrors.

How do Electronic Control Units work? To begin with, they are both the same and very different from the desktop and notebook computers we use in our lives. They are the same insofar as they are computers with CPUs and memory and the programming needed to do a variety of tasks. They are different in that they have no displays or hard drives or keyboards. Most ECUs consist of a system board housed in a small metal box that’s usually mounted either in the engine compartment or under the dash. ECUs are designed to do just one thing – running your car – and they do have to do that reliably and without fail for many years. ECUs must boot up instantly when you turn on the ignition of your car; they must manage fueling, ignition, cams of an engine whose camshaft may rotate up to 9,000 times a minute; they must handle emission control and various other systems that require instant changes several times a second; they must monitor dozens of sensors located throughout the vehicle; and they must do all that in temperatures ranging from blazing hot to ice cold and while rattled around on bumpy road day after day, month after month.

Given all that, you’d imagine that ECUs are totally closed systems, black boxes that you can neither adjust nor fix should they break down. Wrong. ECUs have become the focal point of engine tuning, both for domestics and imports. If you look at any catalog for luxury performance car parts you’ll find various products that affect the running of the ECU either via reprogrammed chips or circuitry that intercepts and modifies signals to and from the ECU. Be it Volkswagen parts, Audi parts, BMW parts, Mercedes parts or other luxury car parts, chances are that the performance tuning section includes ECU tuning products.

What can ECU tuning do for your vehicle? Just about everything. If you add performance hardware such as headers, exhaust, a turbo, or a supercharger, ECU tuning makes sure that spark and cam timing and the air-fuel ratio are adjusted properly so you get optimal performance and reliability from your modified engine. Depending on your modifications, ECU tuning may also include injection and boost display and control, changing rev limiters, launch control, automatic transmission shift points and torque converter settings, as well as monitoring various functions. Amazingly, unlike traditional modifications, ECU tuning can be undone within minutes. It is truly 21st century style tuning.

Nissan Skyline Tuning – Originally Designed to Win a Japanese Touring Car Championship

When we get something we demand more and story goes on. That is what happened with Nissan Skyline car. Frankly, Nissan skyline didn’t imagine about such a massive fame, which skyline would keep getting for years and years to come. The purpose of manufacturing and designing such a boom car was to presiding over racing tracks, especially in the Asia car racing championship. But later on it has been the only choice of Australian racing drivers also.

You will be surprised to note that it was banned due to its supremacy and power factor. This car has been running from the race track to the road track, without upsetting anyone. The car enthusiasts would have never thought of such a stability and performance. You can’t find such an exceptional combinational of handling, balancing with three shift gears. But Nissan skyline put up with all three. Believe it or not, fans of this car don’t need to tune-up with body shells. This is one of the fastest ever car on the track, so it will suit to those, who are hungry for more speed. A lot more tune-up experiments have been tried with the speed, but only a few of those have worked because there is hardly anything that needs a change. That’s called technology and supremacy.

The engine can be tuned up to burning 500hp. it could be achieved by putting up with 2.81 engine, as well as wadding same equipments insides as found into the other winning car of Japanese tracks. Exhaust has to be carefully crafted to bypass the test of hardest noise limits on the track. After such tuning this engine can produce up a heavy emission of 590 hp, which may bring some damage to exhaust system.

A car racing driver may feel the pleasure when it reaches 5500rpm from 4500rpm and still capable to accelerate more. In such condition only Bridgestone RE01Rs tires are capable to resist such as royal speed combo. You have a choice to use Bridgestone Potenza RE55S or any other similar tires that can withstand such high speed and power. Its mid-altering brakes are well maintained by Sachs 3 adjustable dampers. You can add another feature of super copper mix clutch, which adds driving pleasure by the easiness of use, besides handling the power. Interior design could be modified by using Alcantara covered seats, which hold tightly with the body during fast driving. Finally it would be a daydream to have a tuned up model of Nissan skyline, so be cautious while tuning it up this masterpiece.

Nissan Almera Tuning – A Wonderful Family Car For Everyone!

Nissan has manufactured a large number of fabulous, great cars in its car making history. However, when it comes to Nissan Almera then it is a magnificent family car which is rated as the work of genius. This car has creased the streets of Asia from 1995 to 2006 is Nissan Almera and still is one of the most desired cars for many people. That’s why it was a well-thought out a very competent model with pointed and accurate handling with least body roll and an efficient tire grasp. From some grand engine makeovers in the earlier period, Almera has really turned into one of the most admired car on the street. It is a well designed family car with a feeling of specialized touch around it.

Nissan Almera has been put into numerous fine tuning activities in its career and several of them have worked for good quality. This proved the compatibility and strength of the technology used for this vehicle. Almera has just grown up more powerful with every amendment. The tuning mechanism has been further improved by adding new exhaust system. For example, some crucial parts have been added for some replacement, which are used for insulating the heat effects, like carbon fiber air housings and silicon houses have added. This helps out in supplying cooler air, when required and slighter resistance in bigger houses. The engine mechanically acquires extra air and therefore confirms an elevated status of performance.

To make a complete tune up of Almera you will have to change new back cat exhaust system and chrome tailpipes. You simply can’t accept to tune up without adding these tunes up components. And, to provide some eye catching looks you will have to equipped it with sporty seats, steel race pedals, light leather seats, small and handy steering. For enhanced performance transform it with shift gears of less friction. To achieve 100mph barrier in a fraction of second, make use of new ball bearings. You can replace its gear system with BMW’s 5 series, which is fairly compatible with this model of Almera. Furthermore, covers on the bonnet and on the front side doors would definitely boost the looks and thrust of the vehicle. Finally to put in some great final touches to the vehicle, use air brush designing techniques (used in jaguar cars) can really push up the seam.

The air brush painting of while eagle from to end is the suitable choice according to size and design of the car.

Nissan 350z Tuning – Truly One of the Top Contenders For the Best Sports Coupe

In this competitive auto world, where almost everyday we hear about a new launch from different companies around the world, it is really hard to designate one of the top most contenders for the best Sports coupe. The market is already overcrowded and over saturated with a large number of models and when it comes to Sports models then there is one after the other in a row. Nissan 350Z is one of such models that created a wave in the Sports coupe models not just by its looks but with its unmatched, superior and innovative technology and handling options. However, tuning up is certainly going to add further charm that is bound to improve its overall perfect rating and dragging capabilities.

Believe it or not, you certainly need to have a fast road cam if you wish some sort of mechanical tune up. To keep a distance from choking engine and help get sufficient fuel you need to have a new fuel pressure boost valve. Other most remarkable feature in Nissan 350z is Breathing Mods, so with full induction you are bound to experience maximum power gains instantly. To help avoid your engine losing on pressure a Sports catalyst should be added without fail.

In addition to that with the help of powerful engine and Power Clutch, you will never feel short of power when and where it is needed badly at that moment. Overall, Nissan 350z has great performance, superior road grip, added luxury along with out-of-the-box, extraordinary look and feel. You must go for alloy wheels not just for better looks but they have several other technical benefits, such as better control, load balancing and heat transferring capacity due to breaking.

Another great model that can be thought of an advanced version of Nissan 350z is Nissan 370z. Nissan 370z was due launched in 2009. It is certainly for those who already loved 350z and wished something extra in a new look and feel. Unlike Nissan 350z, Nissan 370z has a bossy look that commands on hearts instead of roads in many ways. And, good part of the story is it fits very well in the mid level segment so every middle income person can buy it easily without compromising with performance. Car tuning enthusiasts are already excited to tune it up. Let’s see what goes on, since then we need to put our fingers crossed.

Luxury Car Tuning and Boost Display For Performance and Convenience

I love racing at the local drag strip. It’s a wonderful way to see what your car can do or how a new modification works out. It’s also much safer to race on a track than to test performance on the street, and it’s a great place to hang out and shoot the breeze with fellow racing enthusiasts. But if you’d expect just a bunch of old muscle cars and modified imports at the track you’d be surprised. I’ve seen Porsches, BMWs, AMG Mercedes and lots of Audis and Volkswagens. Go to the track and you’re as likely to see a guy in a suit perusing the boost display on his twin-turbo 12-cylinder Benz as you’ll see a guy tweaking the carbs on his 68 Camaro.

It’s interesting to see so many upper level cars at racing events these days, but that’s all part of a luxury car tuning revolution. Be it entry-level luxury vehicles from Volkswagen and Audi or more expensive models from Mercedes Benz, Audi, Porsche or others, it’s become fashionable to tweak those vehicles to get even more performance from their already powerful, high-revving engines. Simple software updates can add 10-35% extra power just by optimizing engine tuning. See, most cars are tuned very conservatively so that they run well under any conditions and with any type of gas. Software tuning can unleash extra power simply and easily and without the help of more traditional performance car parts. If your car has a turbo, performance increases achievable with ECU modification are even larger. This is why catalogs for Audi parts, Volkswagen parts, Mercedes parts, BMW parts, and other luxury car parts include Electronic Control Unit, or ECU, programming, performance chips and other ways to optimize the vehicles’ computers.

But performance is not everything that is available via programming of the car’s Electronic Control Unit, or ECU. Since the ECU monitors several dozen sensors, it can provide much more information than is normally displayed. And unlike in the past where analog gauges could only show one piece of information (like oil pressure or battery voltage), most of today’s cars have screens and consoles that can be used to show all sorts of information. One example is the actual speed of the vehicle. Why would you need that when the car already has a speedometer? Because many speedometers are wildly inaccurate, making you feel like you’re going much faster than your real speed.

Information available via software add-on modules varies from brand to brand and model to model. It may include 0-60 mph and 1/4-mile acceleration times, more elaborate boost pressure display, air-fuel ratio, power and torque, or more technical information such as ignition advance, knock sensor data, cam angle, short and long term fuel trim, injector duty cycle and more.

More interestingly yet, these easily installed software control modules can be used to override annoying, limiting or non-intuitive stock programming of how the sunroof, windows, seats, mirrors and other parts of the car operate. It may even be possible to change the way the key remote works. Or you can do things like adding a special horn sequence while you’re in reverse. The possibilities are endless, ranging from performance to convenience, from customized boost display to comprehensive sensor readings, and from simple plug-in modules to extensive ECU modification. So next time you search for luxury performance car parts, keep in mind that tuning starts and ends with the car’s computer these days.

How to Attract the Babes Through Car Tuning

Have you ever visited one of those big time motor shows?

You know, the one where all the brand name car manufacturers come out to showcase their latest and greatest car models? These are usually the occasions when they launch new “concept” cars to the world, to show off potential and revolutionary designs that may make it onto the real world cars sometime in the future.

Without a doubt, these trade shows will also be filled with lots of beautiful girls. Not only do the companies hire these attractive ladies to stand strategically around their cars in order to attract an audience, you will also find many gorgeous ladies walking around the exhibits.

This is no coincidence, mind you. Beautiful cars attract beautiful girls, so that is why it is a common sight to see an exotic car owner accompanied by a pretty lady. So here’s the not-so-secret secret — if you want to attract the babes, make sure you drive a very attractive car. Then you will find it’s an ace up your sleeve when trying to get a particular girl to notice you.

Will it work all the time? Of course not. But it will surely go a long way to help. Now, what if you cannot afford to spend so much of your hard-earned cash on the latest and fastest European exotic car? A very good alternative is to invest some money in tuning up your car. Assuming you have a decent car to begin with, you will be amazed by how much difference tuning can make to the end result.

Notice I said that you must start with a decent car — if you drive a beat-up automobile or an old school Russian Lada, then seriously there is not much you can do. So what do you need to do exactly to tune your car into a babe magnet?

For starters, I recommend you add on a flashy full body kit to make your car more “sporty” looking. This is a simple cosmetic change that makes a dramatic difference towards your car’s outer appearance.

Next up, you can try lowering the suspension for a more “aggressive” stance and better cornering performance. And then the next thing you can upgrade is the exhaust system. By changing the exhaust, you will probably get a louder exhaust note, and better top-end performance too.

Once you have done these basic changes and upgrades, your car will definitely turn heads. As for the babe of your dreams, that’s all up to you now. Good luck!

How Can Tuning Make Your Car Look More Attractive?

When people think of tuning their cars, it is quite instinctive to think of engines, performance spark plugs, etc. But have you ever thought of tuning up your car’s exterior looks?

That’s right. With the right changes, your car will look a whole lot better than ever, and it will sure turn heads as you drive down the street.

So what kind of cosmetic changes can you make to your existing car?

Don’t worry, for there is plenty of options for you to choose from. For starters, you can change your car’s suspension. Typically, this means changing your shock absorbers and springs to lower the car’s ride height.

Not only does this make the car look sportier, it will also improve your car’s handling as it goes through the corners.

The next thing you may want to consider is a full body kit for the car. There are a lot of body kits on the market, and you will probably be able to find one to suit your particular make and model.

Some of these body kits are purely cosmetic in nature, but there are some more professional ones that have been specially designed to improve your car’s aerodynamic profile. It reduces the drag caused by wind resistance, and may even increase the downforce on your car to keep it more firmly planted on the tarmac.

Next up is the obvious one — the paint work. Not only can you choose to repaint your car exterior with a special color that’s not available from the manufacturer, you can make it stand out even more by applying car decals onto the body. Some people go as far as getting artists to air-brush special designs onto the paint job to make their car really unique. It’s really up to your imagination how far you want to take this!

Once you have done all that, you can also consider adding or upgrading some of the other parts such as the spoilers, fender flares, hoods, wing mirrors, bumpers, side skirts, trunk hatches, and the lights.

Speaking of lights, you may have notice those really bright white lights on the newer cars on the roads. These are what is known as Xenon HID lights, and they shine tremendously brighter than the typical lights you find in most other cars.

Yes, they look good. But if you install these onto your car, please be considerate and make sure they are installed properly so that they do not blind the other drivers at night. The last thing you want is to have someone driving behind you with their super bright lights shining into your eyes through the rear-view mirror, so make sure you do not do it to other.

As you can see, with so many things you can change for your car’s exterior, you will probably not recognise your old car by the time you are done with all the exterior tuning upgrades.

If you want to know how to make your car perform at its maximum potential, go check out the other car tuning tips http://www.cartuningcentral.com/ now!
